March, 2021Our Verdict: This set is induction oven friendly! Making it a huge hit with consumers because it's made with copper and is available at a low price. This set isn't designed for pro use and features a thinner than average copper coating. Which is said to scratch very easily. If you're looking for a budget-friendly copper cookware set then this set by Concord is a good choice. Just as long as you have realistic expectations in terms of performance.
Overview and Features
This is the only ceramic coated copper cookware set we reviewed but considering it received such a high rating from consumers we decided to dig a little deeper and learn why this set comes highly recommended by home cooks.
Ceramic coated copper cookware is the ideal choice if you're searching for a set that's compatible with induction ovens. Since many types of copper cookware are not. The ceramic interior also adds a lot of heft to this cookware. Which isn't a deal breaker for most cooks. However! unlike tri-ply cookware or stainless-steel lined pots and pans, the ceramic interior can crack or chipped if dropped or not cleaned with care. In terms of performance the set offers an average performance that's comparable to stainless steel cookware. The low price is most likely the reason behind this set's popularity.
The thick ceramic interior is very durable compared to Teflon or tin-lined cookware.
This set includes the following pieces:
- 1.5-quart saucepan with lid
- 4-quart saucepan with lid
- 8.5-quart Dutch oven with lid
- 9.5-inch frying pan with lid
The cookware is lined with a high-grade ceramic coating.
The handles are made out of fully polished stainless-steel and have an ergonomic feel to them that makes them easy to carry. The handles don't offer any type of heat protection and will be hot to the touch when in use.
Each piece in this set is compatible with induction ovens. Unlike our top model the Matfer Bourgeat copper cookware set get all the facts on this set here. The fact that they can be used in induction ovens is a huge plus for some cooks.
For pro cooks, the fact that the set isn’t made out of a thicker copper can be a big drawback. While other cooks will prefer the ceramic lining. The body of the cookware is made out of cast aluminum and is coated with a mixture of ceramic and copper for improved durability.
The addition of the aluminum can help with heat regulation and makes up for the thinner exterior copper layer.

Low Maintenance[ichcpt id="65"]
Most copper cookware sets have to be washed by hand and polished regularly. Because the cookware isn’t made out of pure copper it’s dishwasher safe! which is a huge plus in our book. Since the ceramic interior provides a type of nonstick coating. Cleanup is a breeze, even if you decide to wash your cookware by hand.
In terms of care the pots and pans should be dried immediately after washing in order to avoid water spots. The exterior should also be polished once a month using a polish that's specifically designed for copper.
The Concord 8 Piece Ceramic Coated Copper pots and pans are made up mostly of aluminum. With a thick ceramic coating inside and a mixture of ceramic and copper on the exterior. A major issue we ran into with this set was the fact that the exterior tends to scratch pretty easily. Because of this! we don’t recommend washing them in the dishwasher. Although the manufacturer has deemed this as safe.
However! considering the pots and pans have a reputation for scratching easily. You may want to take more care during clean up and opt to wash this cookware by hand.
Since the cookware consists of a mixture of ceramic and copper. They don’t need to be polished as frequently. And discoloration isn’t a major concern like it is with traditional copper cookware. The manufacturer still recommends polishing the exterior if any signs of discoloration becomes apparent.
So, the easily scratch-able surface is a sort of a trade-off for the cookware’s low maintenance needs. But if you want a set of copper cookware that you can display in your kitchen? then this can be a major drawback.
The Concord 8 Piece Ceramic Coated Copper ceramic coating does a decent job of preventing most types of foods from sticking to the surface. However! it doesn’t offer the same type of impressive nonstick qualities that Teflon does. So you’ll still want to use a type of oil or even butter when you’re frying food. You also won't have to worry about the ceramic interior flaking off and getting into your food like you do with Teflon cookware. Ultimately! many cooks believe that a ceramic lining offers many benefits that Teflon just doesn't.
The thick ceramic interior is very durable compared to Teflon. You do not have to use special plastic or wooden utensils when cooking or worrying about scratching the surface.
So, how did this set perform when put to the test?
Traditional copper pots and pans are popular for use in pro and home kitchens. Because they heat up quickly and help to evenly distribute heat throughout the cooking surface. Since this set has a thick layer of ceramic in the interior. The pots and pans don't offer any of the benefits of copper cookware. Essentially! the thin copper exterior is mainly for looks and considering the exterior can easily become scratched. This set doesn't seem to have much to offer> unless you're looking for nonstick cookware that's induction oven friendly.
The ceramic interior can prevent the cookware from heating up quickly. But it does a fair job in terms of regulating heat. However, it can't compare to the type of performance you can expect from traditional copper cookware.
The Benefits of Ceramic Lining
If you're not familiar with ceramic cookware? then you'll be pleasantly surprised at some of the benefits it has to offer.
Cooks who have never used ceramic lined cookware before often mistakenly believe it’s unsafe. Ceramic coated cookware and solid ceramic cookware are two very different things. This set features a ceramic coating that has been placed over aluminum. The coating is made out of inorganic minerals that mainly consist of oxygen and silicon. The coating is both PTFE and PFOA and free. The inorganic composition of the coating makes this nonstick surface more environmentally friendly compared to traditional nonstick pans. The cookware has a heat resistance of up to four hundred and fifty degrees because of its inorganic nature. While competing nonstick coating such as Teflon. Teflon has a heat resistance up to five hundred degrees. When these ceramic coated pans are heated up beyond the recommended four hundred and fifty degrees! they will not emit any toxic fumes like Teflon pans do. The coating will also not break down.
Overall, we felt that these pots and pans held up nicely to heavy use.
- Nonstick surface
- Low maintenance
- Durable lining
- Dishwasher safe
- Thinner layer of copper on the exterior
- The surface scratches easily
- Ceramic lining negatively impacts temperature regulation
Kitchenairy.com Product Rating as of March, 2021
Concord isn't a company known for high end cookware. They typically produce mediocre pots and pans that are a better option for the novice cook on a budget. Their latest ceramic and copper cookware offers both pros and cons in regard to performance. If your priority is a copper cookware set that will help regulate the cooking temperature? then you'll want to find a set that features a different lining and a thicker copper exterior. If a cookware set that can be used in an induction oven is a must, then this is a great set to go with.
Essentially! if you can’t afford to spend hundreds of dollars on a new cookware set. Then this set by Concord is a great alternative.
The Concord copper ceramic lined cookware set is a more environmentally friendly choice compared to Teflon cookware. The surface works beautifully to prevent food from sticking.
